Marissa Coleman '05 Comes Home!

St. John's College High School of Washington, D.C. proudly welcomed home one of its many outstanding athletes back to St. John's. Coleman joined the Washington Mystics after leading St. John's to a pair of Washington Catholic Athletic Conference girls' basketball championships in 2002 and 2004 and helped lead the University of Maryland to a national title. Coleman and her fellow Mystics teammates practiced and scrimmaged at St. John's against the Polish National Team on Tuesday, May 11th.

Coleman was the second overall draft pick of the Washington Mystics in the annual WNBA Draft following her four-year career at Maryland second all-time in scoring and rebounding. She also became the first player in ACC history to accumulate over 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 400 assists, 200 steals and 100 blocks. At St. John's, Coleman set school records with 2,057 points and 1,750 rebounds and was a two-time Washington, D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year.

Coleman returns to a strong St. John's athletic program and girls' basketball team. Three senior girls' basketball players signed letters of intent for Harvard, Cornell and Dartmouth in November 2009. In addition, in the 2009-2010 school year, St. John's is proud to have over 20 seniors committed to play Division 1 sports next year.
