CBA Hurdles to Another National Title

The CBA Shuttle Hurdle Relay won the National Championship in North Carolina. The all senior team of Phil Reid, Nick Berger, Matt Pozo and Jon Engels scorched the competition and ran away with the gold. Their time of 59.29 was not only good enough to break their own school record and win the National title, it was also the fastest time in the United States this year! The win marks the end of an undefeated season in which the relay team won both the Indoor and Outdoor National Championships. Congratulations to Coach Duh and Mike Socha for helping take the boys to the mountaintop.

Already winning the National Indoor Title, the Colts 4xMile Team looked to match the hurdlers. The team of Junior Tim Gorman, Senior Dan Mykityshyn, Junior Conrad Lippert and Junior George Kelly almost did just that. In one of the most exciting races of the National Championships the Colts would come up less than 1 second short of the gold. CBA would finish second to Loyola of California. Officials also mistakenly started the anchor leg one lap early which cost the Colts one of the Top 10 times in US History.

The weekend ended with the 4x400 relay team of Senior Jon Turi, Sophomore Zach McDermott, Sophomore Clark Mangini and Sophomore Theo Foster breaking a 28-year old school record. The relay finished in 3:19.68.

CBA ended the weekend with 3 school records, 1 National Championship, and 8 All Americans! A great way to end a legendary year.

Go Colts!!
