CBA 8th Graders Move Up with Mass, Class Picnic

Dewitt, NY -As the school year draws to a close, the 8th grade class at Christian Brothers Academy celebrated the hard work and fun times of their middle school years with a Moving Up Mass and ceremony, followed the next day by a class picnic.

On May 25, 2011, 122 students marked the transition from middle school to high school at a Mass said by Rev. Cliff Auth in the Callahan Gymnasium. Students participated in the Mass, and several read reflections about what their CBA education has meant to them. As parents and friends applauded, each student was recognized and received a small token of remembrance to mark the move to high school in the fall.

The next day, the students and their middle school teachers traveled to Pratt's Falls State Park for a day of sports, food and music at the 8th Grade Class Picnic. As part of the activities, 8th graders were challenged to build a rocket from a two-liter soda bottle and power it with water or air pressure. Many creative designs filled the launch pad, as students competed to see whose invention would shoot to the greatest heights.
