pdf St. Benilde Homily, February 1968
August 13 is the feast day of St. Benilde, the first canonized Christian Brother (apart from St. John Baptist de La Salle himself). This is a homily delivered on February 2, 1968, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, North Arlington, NJ. It was the last homily written by the late pastor, Monsignor Leroy McWilliams, who died a short time later. Ironically, Monsignor McWilliams (1894-1968) passed away one week before he was to have delivered it on the occasion of a student Mass in honor of St. Benilde, presumably at Queen of Peace High School. This homily—which is as much a salute to Brother Benilde as it is to all Religious Brothers in the Church—was published in the Fall 1968 issue of Lasallian Digest.
