After a 113-year legacy, De La Salle Institute in New York City will close in June 1960.

But the `Abandon Ship!’ order—the inevitable outcome of the unfeasibility of meeting the requirements of the City Building Commission, of obtaining other temporary quarters or of undertaking the burder of a new building—writes `Finis’ to a glorious and proud tradition.”

Historic Toronto District

October 1959

The Toronto District Council granted permission to open negotiations for the erection of a Brothers’ residence on Havelock Street. In December, the residence (89 Spencer Avenue) was sold on the condition that the firm purchasing this site receive approval to erect an apartment building there.
