75 years ago...1934-1935 school year
August 1934From both the New York and Baltimore Districts, 91 Student Brothers completed a 30-day retreat at St. Francis College in Loretto (PA) in preparation for their Perpetual Profession, August 1-30, 1934. At the close of the retreat, 25 New York Brothers and 8 Baltimore Brothers made their final vows. (Bulletin of the St. La Salle Auxiliary (Ammendale, MD), September 1934, p. 9) December 1, 1934December 1, 1934, marked the 50th anniversary of the completion of the main (original) portion of the Motherhouse at Ammendale (MD) in 1884. Archbishop (later Cardinal) Gibbons of Baltimore dedicated and blessed this portion on December 31, 1884. His singers also sang at the Teachers’ Convention at St. Francis School, with about 800 educators in attendance from both Catholic and public schools.
