Children and Youth at Risk
A Lasallian Response
April 2011 - Rome, Italy – The Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools released its newest Bulletin this month entitled "Children and Youth at Risk, A Lasallian Response." Bulletin number 253, focuses on the poorest and neglected children of our world, and how we as a Lasallian Family respond to their needs. Through education and our charism, Brothers and Partners institute-wide make it our mission to break the cycle of poverty, and uplift the lives of those entrusted to our care.
Two articles come from ministries right here in the District of Eastern North America. La Salle School: An Agent of Healing on page 56 of the bulletin highlights La Salle School in Albany, New York. Tides Family Services, a Ministry Without Walls focuses on the Pawtucket, Rhode Island based treatment program that serves youth and families statewide, can be found on page 58.
Also highlighted in this bulletin is Saint Mary's Boys High School and Child Rescue Center in Kenya, Africa, written by Development Director and DENA Brother, Dominic Jordan, FSC, on page 30.
No matter where the need our District's Lasallians, and Lasallians throughout the Institute, find new and innovative ways to educate and respond to the needs of today's children, like our Founder did to serve the least, the last, and the lost.
