Lasallian Spotlight

Periodically, we'll highlight Lasallians from the District of Eastern North America and the good works they do in the Lasallian spirit for educating youth.

Betty Williams has been a dedicated Lasallian Educator as a member of the MDP staff for 35 years. During these years she has served the youth entrusted to her care as a special education teacher, a cluster coordinator, coordinator of special sports and recreational events including our 35th Anniversary “Olympics” held at St. John’s University, and coordinator of events and performances for our MDP Youth Chorus.

Betty is currently serving as the Director of Admissions for all Martin de Porres programs as well as coordinator of our Family and Youth Outreach Services. For the past several years she has also served as the Director of Education for our afterschool services (Youth Hospitality Center) which touches the lives of over 100 youth from our local community.

Betty has also been a vital contributor to Lasallian Formation at MDP serving as the “Animator” for staff who have completed one year of service within our ministry. In addition she is a graduate of LLI and currentlyserves on the District (DENA) ministry council for the Lasallian Association of Youth and Family Services. Several years ago Betty was also the recipient of the Huether Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award . For the past several years she has also been an instructor at the annual NTI (New Teacher Institute).

Betty’s tireless energy and passion for our Lasallian Ministry is a model for all new staff and for the colleagues she has been associated with these many year. We are truly blessed to have Elizabeth (Betty) Williams as part of our MDP Lasallian Family.
