David John Deradoorian was born in Michigan and lived in Shelby Township until August 19, 2010 when he entered into Jeremy House, a Brothers' Community of initial formation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. David graduated from De La Salle Collegiate High School in Warren, MI in and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids, MI, in Spanish Education and Psychology. In the fall of 2008, David studied at the University of Granada, Spain, where he took language classes and learned Spanish pedagogy.
David has been a contact for four years and has worked at Saint Raymond's High School for Boys in Bronx, NY for three summers teaching remedial Spanish to struggling students. Last summer he also taught/assisted 7th grade English/Language arts at San Miguel School in Camden, NJ while living at Jeremy House.
David has volunteered at Saint Thomas Elementary in Grand Rapids, MI helping 1st and 2nd graders improve their reading ability, and also at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Grand Rapids, MI where he developed a curriculum, recruited tutors, and oversaw assessments at the parish-based ESL (English as a Second Language) program. David loves gardening and playing the piano in his spare time.
As a Postulant at Jeremy House, David will be introduced to important aspects of a Brother's life including personal prayer and spiritual reading development, Institute history, community living, and professional development. While at Jeremy House David will be taking Theology courses at La Salle University and working with the Music Ministry program. David's many talents including playing the piano and gardening make him a vibrant member of the Jeremy House Brothers' Community. |
