What is Twinning?
Twinning is essentially the partnering of District schools with schools in Africa, providing funds for those who are in need. The significant component of Twinning is the participation of Lasallian schools in the Region, which are each partnered with a Lasallian school in English-speaking East Africa and South Africa.
Where are the Schools Located?
The Districts in the US & Toronto Region are twinned with the Lwanga District in Africa which includes the countries of Kenya, Nigeria, Eritrea, Ethiopia and South Africa.

How Long has the Twinning Program Existed?
The Twinning Program between Lasallian schools in the US/Toronto region and Lasallian schools in the Lwanga District of East Africa has existed for over 15 years.
How Much Do We Help?
One way we are supporting Twin schools includes the efforts of our Lasallian schools. Every year, Lasallian students in the US & Toronto contribute funds for their African twin school. Over the last 15 years, contributions have reached over a million dollars which has provided education to thousands of economically poor students in Africa.
How Are the Funds Used?
• student tuition
• salaries of teachers
• maintenance and expansion of school facilities
• purchase of books and class materials
• other essential school expenses
The Christian Brothers Conference coordinates the implementation of the Twinning Program in the Region, facilitates communication between the twin schools and serves as a resource center. |
