Associative Groups
RILAG (Rhode Island Lasallian Association Group)
This organization began in 2005 through the leadership of Brothers Charles Kitson, Frederick Mueller, William Mann, and Michael Reis. The format of our meetings is a meal, prayer, and short gathering or meeting. The group was begun to “build strong connections and communities” and to “demonstrate the sense of Lasallian mission, values, and worth”. The group gathers six times throughout the academic year at 6:30 p.m. at the various Rhode Island Lasallian ministries and we conclude our activities by 8:30 p.m. The meetings usually have topics that center on the three Lasallian pillars of faith, service, and community. There are also opportunities for service and socializing throughout the year.
Some of the various meetings that RILAG has hosted in the past are:
- Lasallian Formation Panel (Buttimer Institute, Lasallian Leadership Institute, VEGA, and Lasallian Youth Assembly)
- Guest Speaker Elizabeth Burke Bryant, Executive Director of Rhode Island KIDS COUNT, a children’s policy and research organization that provides information on child well-being, stimulates dialogue on children’s issues, and promotes accountability and action.
- Commissioning Ceremonies in which our members are commissioned to be a part of RILAG for the year
- Christmas Caroling at the Jeanne Jugan Retirement Community
