District Council Member
Br. Daniel Gardner is a “Brothers’ Boy” from St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in Buffalo, class of ’90. He is in the midst of his sixth year as principal of St. Raymond High School for Boys in the Bronx, NY. Prior to his being assigned to St. Raymond, Br. Dan served as teacher and administrator at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, teacher and bookstore moderator at Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, and principal at Resurrection School in Harlem. He also served as a faithful member of the District Council in the legacy New York District for some ten years and was elected to the District Council of the newly formed District of Eastern North America.
In addition to his duties as principal at St. Raymond, Br. Daniel has just finished overseeing a capital campaign and building project that has produced a state of the art building which includes an art and music room along with two new computer rooms and senior guidance suite. Let’s not forget his building the roof top basketball court for seniors and the handball court which will give the handball team easier opportunity for practice. Br. Dan also spearheads the admissions effort at St. Ray’s, visiting over fifty elementary schools in the Fall to spread the good word about St. Raymond High School for Boys. One of Br. Dan’s hobbies is teaching a senior English class each day which helps to keep him sane, and more importantly, enables him to do what he loves… teaching! In his rare spare moments, Br. Dan might be found watching an episode of Criminal Minds or relaxing on the balcony overlooking Castle Hill Avenue in the Bronx. Bravo to this Lasallian educator extraordinaire!
