Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles, vice-president of the USCCB has called on the bishops to consider taking up a special collection in response to the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. Funds given to the collection will support the humanitarian and recovery efforts of Catholic Charities USA and will provide pastoral and rebuilding support to impacted dioceses through the USCCB.

Through Catholic Charities and other ministries, dioceses throughout Texas are providing basic humanitarian and pastoral support to thousands of Texans affected by Hurricane Harvey. The Texas bishops are coordinating efforts with Catholic Charities USA and local civic authorities. This page will be updated as the situation develops. Currently we request people join in prayer for the coastal and inland areas being affected, and consider donating money to local dioceses and Catholic Charities.
