The Star of Faith

We Instill Gospel Values (LCP)
Life and Dignity of the Human Person  (CST)
The Catholic Church proclaims that human life is sacred and that the dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society. This belief is the foundation of all the principles of our social teaching.

The Good News of Jesus Christ
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12  (NIV)

Saint John Baptist de La Salle
“Learn from Jesus by often being in his company.” (MED 78.2)
“Let the way you live be that of the Gospel” (MED 84.3)

Sparks of Zeal!

We Are Animated by and Foster a Spirit of Faith and Zeal (LCP)
Right to Family, Community and Participation (CST)
The person is not only sacred but also social. How we organize our society in economics and politics, in law and policy, directly affects human dignity and the capacity of individuals to grow in community.

The Good News of Jesus Christ
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:26 (NIV)

Saint John Baptist de La Salle
“You will contribute in your ministry only in so far as you have the fullness of faith and are guided by the spirit of faith.”  (MED 139)
“The more you devote yourself in prayer the more you will do well in your work.” (MED 201.1)

Diversity of Community

We Develop and Maintain Diverse Programs Meeting recognized standards of Excellence (LCP)
The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers (CST)
Work is more than a way of making a living; it is a form of continuing participation in God’s creation. (CST)

The Good News of Jesus Christ
As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. Matthew 9:9 (NIV)

Saint John Baptist de La Salle
“God has chosen you to do His work.” (MED 196.1)
“This work of teaching is one of the most important in the Church” (MED 199.1)

Together and by Association

We create and sustain respectful human relationships in community. (LCP)
Rights and Responsibilities (CST) Care for God’s Creation (CST)
A basic moral test is how the most vulnerable members of our society are faring. Care for the earth is a responsibility entrusted to us by God.

Good News of Jesus Christ
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.  John 15:15 (NIV)

Saint John Baptist de La Salle
“Have great respect for each person you are with.” (Rules of Civility and Decorum)
“Know your students individually and be able to understand them.” (MED 33.1)

Transformation of Hearts

We Exercise A Preferential Option for the Poor  (LCP)
Option for the Poor and Vulnerable.
Human dignity can be protected and a healthy community can be achieved only if human rights are protected and responsibilities are met. (CST)

Good News of Jesus Christ
They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”  Luke 24:32

Saint John Baptist de La Salle
“Do your part to build up the kingdom of God in the hearts of your students.” (MED 67.1)
“For how long has Jesus been presenting himself to you and knocking at the door of your heart and you have not wanted to receive him? Why? Because he only presents himself under the form of a poor person.” (MPF easts 85)

SOLIDARITY (CST)
At the core of the virtue of solidarity is the pursuit of justice and peace. Pope Paul VI taught that “if you want peace, work for justice.” The Gospel calls us to be peacemakers. Our love for all our sisters and brothers’ demands that we promote peace in a world surrounded by violence and conflict

“Young people need good teachers, like visible angels.” (MED 197.1)
