This two week immersion program includes an opportunity for participants to share common experiences and hopes for Twinning, not only with one another from DENA, but with Lasallians from the twinned schools themselves.

The Twinning Summit 2014 is a pilot program intended for Lasallian ministries in DENA, primarily administrators and Twinning coordinators, to allow for diverse ministries to communicate with one another. For approximately two decades, there has been a twinning relationship between schools in the Lwanga District (English-speaking countries of Africa) and ministries of RELAN. While there are ongoing challenges in these relationships, the benefit on both continents continues to be very real and palpable. Among DENA ministries, there have been student/staff visits to Lwanga from Bishop Loughlin MHS; La Salle Academy, Providence; La Salle University; Manhattan College; and Martin de Porres Schools. Such visitations to twinned schools have enhanced the relationship between schools and it has increased the amount of contribution to the twinned ministry. Central to the experience will be visiting Child Discovery Centre, Rongai Agricultural and Technical School, Mwangaza College, and St. Mary’s Secondary School/Child Rescue Programme. The experience will begin with a two day program of inculturation, organized by the Maryknoll Institute for African Studies, an affiliate of St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Hosting the event will be Christ the Teacher Institute for Education (CTIE). This pilot program is being organized by Ms. Maryann Donohue-Lynch, Bro. Dennis Lee, FSC, who has returned to the Lwanga District; Bro. Paulos Welday, FSC, the Director of CTIE; and Bro. Antone Oloo, FSC, the Sector Coordinator for Kenya. As a pilot program, the participants will recommend, during the final discussions, ways to enhance this Twinning Summit for future years.
