Christian Brothers gathered for the Christian Brothers Educational Association (CBEA) annual national conference at De La Salle College in Washington, DC in July 1951. The thirteenth annual gathering celebrated the tercentenary of the birth of St. John Baptist de La Salle and featured discussions and lectures on educational trends, the educational philosophy of St. John Baptist de La Salle, and intellectual and social changes and their effect of education. A major highlight of the conference was President Harry Truman’s reception of Brother Provincials and officers of the CBEA. The Brothers included Bartholomew Edwin, Provincial of the District of New Orleans-Santa Fe; Dominic Augustine, District of Baltimore; Emilian James, Provincial of the District of Baltimore; Hugh Elzear, District of St. Louis; and A.
