A Message from the Visitor

Dear Friends,

Hope springs eternal! That familiar phrase could really sum up the season of Lent. Lent is the time the Church offers us to wake up to the joy of the promises of the Resurrection. Death never has the last word. The Lasallian Mission of offering a quality human and Christian education to the young, especially the poor, is a concrete act of hope. Dedication and fidelity to creating schools and child-care services that help young people reach their God-given potential is putting hope into action.

Pope Francis has observed, ‘Catholic education is also evangelization: bearing witness to the joy of the Gospel and its power to renew our communities and provide hope and strength in facing wisely the challenges of the present time.’ Each day throughout the world, Brothers and Lasallian educators take up this call to witness to the joy of the Gospel. Our constant message is that each life has a purpose and is a gift from God. Lasallian education helps each student to discover her or his purpose by creating a school environment that prioritizes self-discipline, gratuitous service to those in need, and the pursuit of excellence and one’s personal best,

As you look through this issue, you will see the names of a number of Brothers who have recently died. Each of them, in their own unique way, continued the tradition of John Baptist de La Salle and the first Brothers by looking for ways each day to bring the best out of those entrusted to their care. The stories of how these Brothers influenced the lives of their former students have been inspiring to hear. You can also read the spotlight on Brother Kyle, an extraordinary young Brother who is already a master in the classroom. His lessons engage his students to question and learn about the mysteries of the universe.

Thanks to your ongoing support, the Lasallian Mission continues to stir up hope for the future and hope, we know, never disappoints!

Live Jesus in our hearts! Forever!

Respectfully,
