Adrien Nyel Retreat

An annual program that brings together new Lasallian educators to deepen their sense of vocation through prayer, reflection, and community.

The Adrien Nyel Retreat (ANR) is a spiritual opportunity for first-second-third year teachers new to the mission field of Lasallian education from across DENA to experience association and fraternity. Inspired by Saint John Baptist de La Salle’s commitment to creating ‘time of retreat’, the retreat invites teachers to be attentive to the movement of the Holy Spirit calling them in both their personal lives and their teaching ministry.

The retreat offers both communal and personal time to enrich one’s journey of faith and to deepen a sense of one’s vocation to teach within a community. While not a workshop, participants do encounter speakers who are expert in fields of theology and religious education, among other disciplines, offering presentations that amplify De La Salle’s spiritual and pedagogical vision of the teacher.

As Lasallian Spirituality Today observes: When we speak of the Lasallian vocation, we speak of the calling to be part of the circle of lifelong educators and lifelong learners who see learning and teaching as a holy endeavor that is deeply relational, centered on teaching the minds, touching the hearts, and transforming the lives of those entrusted to their care.
