Appointment of the first President of La Salle Educational Center Homestead, FL

The District of Eastern North America is pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees of the La Salle Educational Center in Homestead, FL has appointed Mr. Michael P. Scaramuzzo II as its first President effective July 1, 2024.

During last summer’s District Chapter and Mission Assembly, the Brother and Partner delegates focused on multiple thematic areas to ensure the vitality of the Lasallian Mission into the future. Responding to the call of the 46th General Chapter to reach out to those on the peripheries. The District’s response to this call was to expand the good work already in place at the La Salle Educational Center with the migrant children and families. To quote from the Chapter and Assembly report, “Knowing the transformative power that our educational mission has had on past generations of immigrants to the United States, particularly in recent years with the Miguel Schools and the Cristo Rey Schools, we feel called to establish a Lasallian educational project that will address the needs of the children of Homestead.”

We are very excited that Michael has accepted this new position and will provide the vision and leadership to expand our Lasallian mission in South Florida. A Lasallian since high school, Michael has served for the past six years in various teaching and administrative positions at St. John Paul II Academy in Boca Raton, FL. He currently serves as the Assistant Principal for Student Life as well as the school’s Lasallian Animator. In addition to his work at SJP II Academy, Michael is a member of the District’s Mission Council and a graduate of the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies.

A proud graduate of Saint Peter’s Boys High School in Staten Island, Michael brings his many talents and rich Lasallian experience to the District’s efforts to expand the educational programs and social services provided to the young people in Homestead.

Please join us in praying for Michael as he transitions into this new leadership position and thanking him for accepting the challenge of bringing the vision of the District Chapter and Mission Assembly to life in Homestead.
