School Spotlight: La Salle College High School – Wyndmoor PA

By Christopher M.  Carabello,
Director of Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations

Mr. Rob Johnson works with a student in the digital media and communication studio at the school.

La Salle College High School has taken learning to another level by adding a Concentrations Program to their robust, college-preparatory curriculum. The program allows students to embark on an innovative journey, experiencing various career fields and earning credentials during their high school years. By navigating a pathway through electives, clubs, and experiential learning activities—as well as linked course content, service-learning opportunities, interviews, and independent research—students gain unparalleled academic and real-world insights. These customized pathways enable young men to discover and pursue their passions. As a result, connections are made across subject areas, and deeper, more meaningful learning takes place.

The benefit of the program is that when young men do not have a reason, goal, or target, they can lose focus, and not fully apply themselves. These concentrations give a young man purpose and reason. Classes now matter to the student, and the long view comes into focus. Participation in a concentration provides a capable young man with a spark that will ignite a new level of effort, thought, and commitment.

A student in the Concentrations Program can expect to work on and off campus, connecting his experiences in pursuit of his goals at the deepest levels of understanding. Basic courses are taken first, with electives to follow. By senior year, students in a concentration take seminar courses, create professional portfolios, and complete capstone projects. This rigorous learning experience will serve students in a variety of ways, but most importantly, it will facilitate developing the skills, habits, work ethic, and character needed in today’s world. In addition, the Concentrations Program will help a young man decipher if these fields are potential college majors (or career options) and inspire him to learn more and do more with that knowledge.

Mr. Kyle Rosa teaches biology as part of the health sciences concentration.

Mr. Greg Snyder has the attention of his music production students.

By packaging current course offerings to create curricular pathways, La Salle College High School currently offers concentrations in:

  • Digital Media and Communication
  • Engineering
  • Global Business
  • Health Sciences
  • IT Professional
  • Music Production

The 2025-2026 academic year will see the addition of a concentration in Leadership, Public Service, and Law.

Open to all students, the program was inspired internally and from what colleges and workplaces will be asking of students, thus deepening the scope of understanding and growth for participants. It has also inspired faculty and administrators to look at its curriculum with new eyes, seeking more points of connection and relevancy.

While the structure of the Concentrations Program formalizes pathways for learning and growth, the result is that each student will ultimately discern his individual path.
