About Bold Brotherhood
Bold Brotherhood is a group of Catholic male college students open to faith, service, and community. Led by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, members support one another in their relationship with Christ and his Church while responding to the challenges of college life. Membership in Bold Brotherhood allows for the following activities, which are all optional: summer missions while living in a Brothers’ community, monthly online faith encounters, an in-person retreat, and occasional contact with a Christian Brother.
Monthly Faith Sharing
Bold Brothers are invited to participate in monthly videocalls, which are roughly one hour long and held in the evening on or around the 25th of each month. Monthly topics are in line with the needs of university-aged Catholic men, according to the suggestions of the Bold Brothers themselves. They include masculinity and Catholic manhood, prayer and the spiritual life, faith and doubt, and other engaging topics. Videocalls follow a regular format: prayer, input on the topic-of-the-month, organized conversation, and Q & A.
Summer Live-in Mission
Bold Brothers are invited to participate in summer missions while living with Brothers in a Brothers’ community. Participants are paid a weekly stipend. These missions, which involve the education and evangelization of elementary and middle school students, last between four and six weeks. Locations for summer 2026 include Homestead, Florida and Buffalo, New York.
Retreats:
Bold Brotherhood will sponsor three in-person retreats during the 2025-2026 academic year and an additional opportunity to serve as a retreat leader:
- SEEK. Join us as we gather with roughly 10,000 college students for prayer, the Sacraments and incredible speakers. The registration and hotel costs are covered by the Brothers, and we will travel together from NYC.
- March for Life. Thursday, January 22 – Saturday, January 24, 2026 in Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC. We will stay overnight in the Brothers’ Community of Calvert Hall College.
- Forged in Faith. Wednesday, May 20 – Friday, May 22, 2026 at the Immaculate Conception Retreat and Conference Center in Huntington, NY.
- Leader for High School Discernment Retreats. Bold Brothers are invited to help lead any of the high school discernment retreats that will take place during second semester at many of the 19 high schools sponsored by the District of Eastern North America. Dates and locations will be posted as the retreats are scheduled.
- Come and See Retreats. Locations are Baltimore, MD from November 14 – 16, 2025 and Memphis, TN from April 10 – 12, 2026. You must be at least 20 years old. These retreats provide an opportunity for discerners to personally meet Brothers and to enjoy a prayerful weekend within an active Brothers’ Community. This retreat offers time with the sacraments, discussions, and helpful discernment advice. The only cost for this retreat is your transportation.
