HUNTINGTON, N.Y. – The Lasallian District of Eastern North America, will host Ultreia 2026: Lasallian Student Leaders Retreat from July 20–24, 2026, at the Retreat & Conference Center of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, New York.
With the theme “Go Further Together: In Faith, Service, and Community,” Ultreia will gather high school student leaders from across the District for a week of formation, prayer, reflection, community-building, and leadership development. The word Ultreia comes from a pilgrim’s call meaning “go further,” expressing perseverance, forward movement, and support along a shared journey.
This year’s retreat will welcome student leaders and adult representatives from the following Lasallian ministries:
- Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School – Brooklyn, NY
- Calvert Hall College High School – Towson, MD
- Central Catholic High School – Pittsburgh, PA
- Christian Brothers Academy – Albany, NY
- Christian Brothers Academy – Syracuse, NY
- De La Salle College “Oaklands” – Toronto, ON
- La Salle Academy – New York, NY
- La Salle Academy – Providence, RI
- La Salle College High School – Wyndmoor, PA
- La Salle Institute – Troy, NY
- Saint John’s College High School – Washington, DC
Before students arrive, retreat staff, facilitators, and accompanying adults will gather for a dedicated preparation and formation program from July 19–20, 2026. This training will help the retreat team prepare to accompany students throughout the week with clarity, care, and a shared understanding of the retreat’s goals. The staff formation will also include final coordination, team-building, and preparation for the student leadership experience.
The retreat is being co-led by Damian Khoury, program director for Ultreia 2026, and Justin Martineau, Associate Director for the Office for Mission and Ministry in DENA. Together, they will work with a team of Lasallian educators, ministers, facilitators, alumni, and communications staff to help guide the student experience throughout the week.
Additionally, the program will include keynote sessions and formation experiences led by several Lasallian leaders, including Brother Armin Luistro, FSC, Superior General of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools; Julia Mayer, Director of Mission, District of Central Europe; Abby Michels, Director for Mission and Ministry at Saint John’s College High School in Washington, DC; Brother David Hawke, FSC, a global educator assigned to La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, PA; and Brother Robert Schaefer, FSC, Visitor of the District of Eastern North America.
Throughout the retreat, participants will be invited to reflect on their own leadership journey, deepen their connection to the Lasallian mission, build community with peers from other schools, and consider how they can bring the experience back to their own school communities.
Ultreia is not only a student leadership retreat. It is also a District-wide moment of connection, formation, and shared mission. The experience will bring together students, educators, Brothers, partners, alumni, and volunteers who are committed to forming young people as leaders of faith, service, and community.
