The Adrien Nyel Project will host the 2026 Adrien Nyel Institute from June 21 to 25 at St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C.
Rooted in the Lasallian mission, the Adrien Nyel Institute invites young people to reflect on the vocation of teaching and the role of educators in making God known, loved, and served. The program offers participants a space to consider teaching not only as a profession, but as a ministry of presence, service, and hope.
Throughout the week, participants will take part in prayer, community building, guided reflection, school visits, and conversations with Lasallian educators. Sessions will explore themes such as naming one’s “why,” the daily realities of teaching, Lasallian charism and heritage, classroom equity, and the impact teachers can have in the lives of young people.
The Institute will also include visits and experiences across Washington, D.C., helping participants connect their reflections on education with the wider work of justice, community, and public service. The week will conclude with a sending forth prayer and reflection.
Named for Adrien Nyel, the 17th-century layman who helped Saint John Baptist de La Salle begin schools for young people in need, the Institute continues the Adrien Nyel Project’s mission of igniting a zeal for teaching among a new generation of Lasallians.
