Institutional Advancement Leadership Assembly Brings Leaders Together in Boca Raton, FL

Leaders in advancement, development, enrollment, alumni relations, and mission support from Lasallian ministries across the District of Eastern North America (DENA) gathered on April 20–21, 2026, at Saint John Paul II Academy in Boca Raton, FL for the 2026 Institutional Advancement Leadership Assembly. The annual gathering created space for professional renewal, collaboration, and reflection rooted in the Lasallian mission. Originally scheduled earlier this year, the event was postponed due to a winter storm before being successfully convened in April.

Centered on the theme, Continuing the Ministry of Growing the Lasallian Educational Mission, the assembly invited participants to consider how advancement work remains an essential expression of service to young people and to the future of Lasallian education.

Representatives from across DENA came together to share experiences, strengthen relationships, and explore how institutional advancement can continue to support the long-term vitality of Lasallian ministries. The gathering also provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on the evolving realities facing fundraising, enrollment, engagement, and communications efforts today while remaining grounded in mission.

The program opened with prayer led by students of Saint John Paul II Academy, grounding the assembly in the faith tradition that animates Lasallian ministry.

A featured keynote session, “Breaking through Generational BarriersDeveloping Young Donors,” was led by Michael Barvick and Greg Markiton, Senior Partners with Partners in Mission. Their presentation explored the importance of engaging younger generations of supporters, cultivating habits of generosity early, and building donor relationships rooted in trust, impact, and connection.

Additional sessions and table discussions focused on practical strategies for advancement leaders, including “Campaigns and Major Gift Initiatives,” led by Tom Malstrom of Calvert Hall College High School, and “Sustaining a Culture of Engagement,” led by Patrick Dwyer of St. John’s College High School. These conversations encouraged participants to share best practices and learn from one another’s experiences across ministries.

Throughout the two-day gathering, participants also reflected on how advancement offices can remain aligned with mission, steward resources wisely, and ensure that events, campaigns, and outreach efforts serve long-term strategic goals rather than short-term activity alone.

Participants gathered for shared meals, fellowship, and informal conversation, further strengthening the bonds of association among Lasallian leaders and professionals across the District.

As the assembly concluded, participants returned to their ministries with renewed energy, practical insights, and a deeper commitment to ensuring that advancement work remains a meaningful expression of the Lasallian mission across DENA.

The District extends its gratitude to Saint John Paul II Academy for hosting the 2026 Institutional Advancement Leadership Assembly and to all presenters and participants whose dedication continues to sustain Lasallian education for future generations.
